Anthony Watson was raised on a dairy and beef cattle operation in Max Meadows, Virginia (Wythe County). Anthony received his Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science from Virginia Tech and later a Master’s Degree in Career & Technical Education from Virginia Tech.

After graduation from Virginia Tech, Anthony returned to his family’s dairy and beef cattle operation for several years. He later entered the education field, where he served as an Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor for 11 years. He began teaching at Carroll County Intermediate School and then transferred to his alma mater, Fort Chiswell High School. Apart from being a teacher and FFA Advisor at Fort Chiswell High School, Anthony also served as a high school basketball coach for 16 years and football coach for 2 years.

Anthony has spent the past 10 years working as a Commercial Agriculture Loan Officer for Farm Credit of the Virginias.  Anthony works closely with both full-time and part-time agriculture producers in helping them obtain funding for their operations.  Anthony is a member of several agriculture organizations and serves as the treasurer of the Wythe County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. In addition, he sits on the Virginian Cattlemen’s Policy Committee.

Anthony resides in Max Meadows, Virginia, with his wife, Laura Beth Watson, and two children, Bailey and Siler Watson.  They own and manage a beef cow/calf operation consisting of registered and commercial Simmental and SimAngus cattle.  If Anthony is not working for Farm Credit or on the farm, you can find him hunting, fishing, at Virginia Tech football and basketball games, helping coach sports, or somewhere near water enjoying the outdoors!

"I am honored to be a member of the VALOR VII class.  I am excited for the networking and traveling opportunities that are ahead of me.  I feel that VALOR provides a platform that allows for individuals to continue leadership development that will benefit themselves and the wonderful agriculture industry that they serve!"
